چکیده

Under the effect of strong earthquakes, collisions or excessive inter-story displacements may occur between adjacent building structures to extent that structure is damaged. The traditional seismic measures for these can no longer meet needs in practical engineering. In this paper, we propose application parallel and serial TID-based control systems buildings as an example a single-story building, use it form new reduction structure. dynamic characteristics design parameter optimization vibration system are investigated by means Monte Carlo pattern search method H2 norm theory. results show introduction TID effectively improve resistance buildings. problem amplification caused resonance obviously improved, which especially evident based on TID. more robust. When optimizing right damping requirement decreases mass ratio increases, while increases both systems, difference optimal inertial small. practice, moderate increase masses have positive performance systems. main contribution paper fill research gap applications reduction.

Advanced computational design of shared tuned mass-inerter dampers for vibration control of adjacent multi-story structures ⋆

Inerters are a novel type of mechanical actuation devices that are able to produce large inertial forces with a relatively small mass. Due to this property, inerters can provide an effective solution to the main drawbacks of tuned mass-dampers and, consequently, they are gaining an increasing relevance in the field of passive structural vibration control. In this paper, a computational design s...

Vibration suppression of cables using tuned inerter dampers

This paper considers the use of a tuned inerter damper (TID) system for suppressing unwanted cable vibrations. The TID consists of an inerter, a device that exerts a force proportional to relative acceleration, coupled with a parallel spring and damper. It may be thought of as similar to a tuned-mass-damper, but requiring two terminals. As a two terminal device, the performance of the TID is co...

Performance of Tuned Liquid Dampers with Different Tank Geometries for Vibration Control of Structures

TLD is a tank filled with water and serves as a dynamic vibration absorber for passive control of structures. This paper addresses the comparisons of TLD performances corresponding to different tank geometries including rectangular and conical shapes. Due to the importance of water and tank weight as a load on top of a building, volume is considered to be a constant parameter in this study. Fir...

dual-layer multiple tuned mass dampers for vibration control of structures

the performance of dual-layer multiple tuned mass dampers (dl-mtmd) with uniformly distributed natural frequencies is investigated. the dl-mtmd consists of one large tuned mass damper (l-tmd) and an arbitrary number of small tuned mass dampers (s-tmd). the primary structure is represented as a single degree-of-freedom system which corresponds to a specific vibration mode to be controlled in a r...

Constrained Optimal Control of Vibration Dampers

Optimal control of dampers has been proposed to mitigate vibration effects in mechanical systems. In many cases, systems are subject to periodic forcing and the goal is to maximize the energy dissipated by the damper. In contrast to prior work utilizing instantaneous or infinite-time−horizon optimization, this paper employs periodic optimal control to maximize the energy dissipated per cycle. F...
